Born
in 1979 in small town, Mississippi, Jil's love of all things technological
began while dying of dysentery while playing Oregon
Trail on the computer
at school. For the first five years of her life, Jil was an only child
and
had to come
up with creative ways to make days pass on the farm. This included hanging
upside down in trees with her imaginary friend, Woodstock. Needless to say,
the creature that is her imagination was born.
Realizing later in life that one can mix the technological
with the creative, Jil earned a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering
Technology. Her major
emphasis was Design Computing, including 2D, 3D, 4D (yes, there is such thing),
and web design.
Her first professional run-in with Adobe Photoshop was
in 1999, where she was given a "learn this or go home" crash
course during an internship in Santa Barbara, California. Photoshop has
become a part of her daily life
ever since.
Jil has worked on different projects for companies such as Hallmark, Carnival
Cruise Lines, and E-greetings.com. She has worked on virtual reality projects,
including a virtual tour of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Her job titles
have ranged from runt to Virtual Reality Architect to Texture Artist to Programmer/Analyst,
with various BS thrown in between.
Jil made her way back home to Mississippi, after realizing
that home isn’t
so bad after all, and other places just aren’t as great as they sound.
She quickly acquired two 4-legged children - Pheonix of the feline variety
and Marley of the canine. If it was solely up to her she would have a zoo.
Currently, Jil is pursuing a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology. Jil and her husband, Jeremy, currently put their time into
growing their companies, which involve home designs, architectural rendering,
branding, 3D modeling, Virtual Reality, multimedia of all kinds, and of course
- ART.
Jil's love of her work has driven her to want to teach others her skills.
Classes are available online and include original tutorials on the software
that Jil uses every day. Jil answers her e-mail at guru@jilwright.com.
